Institutions of higher learning are tasked with providing a quality education that leads to gainful employment. Potential students have many choices where they attend college and the impetus is on the institution to strengthen the students return on investment. A large body of research on Electronic Portfolios or ePortfolios exists which suggests a strong correlation between their use and student growth, improved critical thinking skills, increased self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses, evidence of student competencies, and improved employment opportunities. The ultimate goal of ePortfolios also seems to be clearly aligned with the current trends and needs of the job market, that emphasizes the importance of what graduates can do opposed to what they only know.
