  1. List up to five authors separated by commas and add an ampersand before the last one.
  2. Use this way for the first in-text citation in your paper.
  3. For the second in-text citation and forward, use the first name of the author and the words et al.

SIX OR MORE AUTHORS

(Smith et al., 2016)

  1. Only use the first author’s last name and the words et al. in all of your in-text citations.

  1. For the first in-text citation spell out the name of the organization with its abbreviation in brackets next to it.
  2. For the second in-text citation and forward, use the abbreviation only.
